Whenever Daren and I podcast, we have a list of three or four things each we want to cover. Usually, we get to less than half of those and today, even less.
In case you think these are a couple of out of touch media dicks shlepping to a studio where everything is set up, and coffee is served, it isn’t. This operation starts with us texting each other every night from our couches and culminates in two guys picking each other up at each other’s houses for career pep talks and podcasts. I usually drive, and Daren pays for parking.
He also helped me take two loads of garbage to the dump. Normal stuff. Really, it’s two normal guys who struggle with the same shit you do, talking about hard, fun, weird things and today we outdid ourselves.
Daren’s first trip to a hockey rink since “Leaving” Sportsnet was hard. He details it beautifully, and I’m proud of him. Most people in media pretend everyone is hot on their tail fighting over their services and moving on is no biggie. Well, it’s a biggie to Millard and listening to his story of going back to the rink with former colleagues, and sports folk was incredible to hear.
We also touched on conjugal visits (prison sex), having best friends when your almost 50, an NHLr that played with hot dogs in his pads and self-confidence after getting fired.
Enjoy on your shitty drive home before you get greased tonight.
