EA Sports announced that it would be removing all Russian and Belarusian National and Club Teams from NHL 22 within the coming weeks. Same goes for FIFA.
TAKE THAT RUSSIA! Looks like this war should be over soon now that EA Sports has entered the conversation.
I don’t know enough about soccer to comment with any sort of expertise but I can say fairly confidently that removing the Russian and Belarusian Club Teams from NHL 22 will not move the needle for many hockey fans. Now, if EA stepped up and said it was taking Ovechkin and all other Russian players out of the game, I mean, nothing would still be done, but at least it would be a WAY more interesting story.
Look, it’s easy to see all of these small gestures from giant copropations as meaningless but the truth is every action, big or small, impacts the Russian population. Whether it be financially or to the morale of the people, sowing doubt in what Putin is doing the end goal. The hope is that the people will turn on him and his ideology so that peace can prevail.
So pour out your Smirnoff (not made in Russia) and sell your Russian Ruble (currently worth a penny in Canada) and if you are the type to pray, send some prayers to Ukraine.
