The movie I wanted to love but only kinda liked comes to Disney+ this week, so if you are in the mood for some definitely above-average but WAY over-hyped action “Free Guy” might be for you.
I will reiterate, it’s above average. It’s a good movie, but I wanted it to be great and maybe that’s on me. Like the rest of the world, I love Ryan Reynolds. I would happily watch him read a book to himself if they recorded it, but this premise and those trailers had my hyped up for my mind to be blown and it just wasn’t.
I would however highly recommend another Ryan Reynolds movie that is currently streaming on Netflix and is still new-ish and that is Red Notice. That stars Reynolds, The Rock and Gal Gadot. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and unlike Free Guy, I’m excited about the prospect of a sequel or franchise forming.
If you must watch a movie about a video game character gaining consciousness, watch Wreck-It Ralph!
