I would love to tell you that Canadians are excited to pay exorbitant amounts of their hard-earned cash for dried-out popcorn buds, but Daren Millard is our resident optimist here at DeanBlundell.com. Truth is, yesterday’s nationwide opening of legal pot shops was similarly underwhelming and disappointing as the OCS roll-out this past October. With many major news outlets covering the events, I was quickly reminded of how annoying it is to listen to mainstream media discuss things they clearly know shit-the-fuck-all about. It’s like when you’re watching ESPN and you hear Skip Bayless describe Nate Diaz as a “sumo-style wrestler” when discussing mixed martial arts. Diaz is a fan of weed, by the way.
So after witnessing several prominent figures stumbling over simple terms such as “indica” or “topicals”, I quickly found what I was looking for from local cannabis educator @weedstagram416’s Instagram page. He posted a live video from his experience at the Hunny Pot Cannabis Co, and it’s worth checking out if it’s still up! You see his entire experience from waiting outside, to interacting with the “budtenders”, and even displaying some product in the short video.

Okay left the store and it was a nice retail experience I truly enjoyed the vibe at the @thehunnypotcannabisco but the bud desperately needs @bovedacannabis at the packing stage the most expensive @sanrafael71 pink kush crumbled with just the lightest pressure. The LPS gotta match the retail experience with quality and price. The @indivalife preroll was a nice way walk out the store and toke right there. Tasted pretty good! I miss my own home grown ghost train haze. #cannabiscommunity #ganjapreneur #416 #420 #medicate #medicated #firstretail #firstdispensary #toronto #legalized
So basically, if you’re impatient and don’t want to wait for your dry-ass weed to come via Canada Post, you can at least have what seemed to be a pleasurable retail experience with some folks who know about cannabis. I must say the facility looked pristine, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. As he says in the post above, if they can get the cannabis quality to match the pricing and facilities, then we’ll all be looking at the glass half-full like our buddy Daren.
As pleasurable as his whole weed-buying experience appeared to be, let’s not forget what this whole thing is supposed to be about…
