Source – DeMarre Carroll’s time with the Toronto Raptors was forgettable for both sides, as he barely made positive impact on the squad while saddling the franchise with a fat contract during his brief two-year stint above the border.
Fortunately for the Raptors, though, they were able to ship Carroll and his salary to the Brooklyn Nets this summer. That move, however, triggered Carroll into making some unpleasant comments about the Raptors, saying that the team relied heavily on one-on-one basketball and that trust was an issue within the locker room.
A little over a week since those comments from Carroll surfaced, Toronto general manager Masai Ujiri finally got a hold of the forward’s comments and was asked of his take on TSN Radio 1050 last Wednesday with regards to the former Raptor’s gripes.
“Honestly, I take it with a grain of salt. I don’t know that we were not good to him. I think the organization was really good to DeMarre. And those issues that you have inside, honestly, as a general manager of the team I don’t see any major issues that I can pinpoint.”
Carroll wasn’t able to deliver the quality of work as demanded by the hefty four-year, $60 million contract the Raptors gave him in 2015, as he managed to put up mediocre numbers of 9.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in just 98 games across two seasons. And for him to disparage the Raptors despite apparently shortchanging the team with his play is not doing his image any good.
That’s a nice way to put it, “Carroll wasn’t able to deliver the quality of work as demanded by the hefty four-year, $60 million contracts.”
He sucked and was more interested in wearing pajamas in public and riding around in his R8 while posting pictures of himself on Instagram in his kitchen.
I know you can’t shit on the guy when he was injured, but you can certainly shit on him for being ungrateful on his way out. Not often do you side with management when an out going player bemoans being shipped out, but I do, and Masai took the high road here.
Shoulda just said “You’re weak, you sucked and your too expensive. You can’t stay on the court and when you are I trust Norm Powell more than you.”
“Demarre Carroll why you even talking”
