Cevilain were the band that I’d picked for the first episode of Darryl Talks To Bands. Being based in Ottawa and wanting to shine a spotlight on this music scene, Cevilain were a great place to start. At the time, they were releasing an EP called “On Death & Dying”, based on the 5 stages of grief. It’s a killer piece of work and was eerie as fuck heading in to the pandemic.
That was on top of a string of solid singles. They were the first band that I’d put in to heavy rotation when programming a rock station in Ottawa. HEAVY ROTATION!!!
An independent/local band. And why not?!?!?! The song “Hush” sounded like a song that belonged there. After watching this podcast you may want to go down the Cevilain rabbit hole, and you should.
Essential listening includes; “Better Angels“, “How it Ends“, “Lydia” (Highly Suspect cover), “Cure”
That’s a good start. This new song has the potential to get this band some attention. After all, the reason they got Adam Gontier, is because they got his attention over hundreds of other bands. I’ve been singing their praises for a few years, now it’s your turn
