I’m not a person who appreciates the concept of children being politicized. Brave, I know.
From Greta Thunberg to those kids who hold up posters of aborted babies in the public square at the behest of their church, using children as props for some political agenda is abhorrent. People who engage in activist tactics like this are abusing them.
Sometimes they choose another tactic and abuse the memory of kids instead.
Recently on the Dean Blundell podcast, we had a long conversation about a young girl who recently died from COVID. A link to her GoFundMe page is at the bottom of this piece, otherwise, I won’t be mentioning her name.

She was 5 years old. She was unvaccinated. People who are so adamant that this pandemic isn’t real, keep on commenting about how this little girl died with COVID, not of COVID, as if that makes a lick of difference. The sinister aspect of this entire pandemic has been how this illness debilitates people who are already sick. Seniors, people with pre-existing conditions, and, anecdotally, children.
I never understood all those armchair statisticians who bloviate about how great children deal with COVID. People get into these fruitless, meandering debates about percentages as if those percentages were not made of real people. The same type of argument is used by military generals who kill one terrorist but consider the civilians – men, women, and children – as unavoidable collateral damage. It is deprived of decency, lacking any trace of deference to a shared sense of humanity.

Has the virulent anti-vaxxer crowd ever stopped and thought “Hey, what if I’m wrong about all this?” Jesus, I am double-vaxxed and sometimes find myself wondering how much I really know about this pandemic. But if I’m wrong, the impact is about politics. If the extreme anti-vaxxer is wrong, the impact is about dead people. This includes 5-year-old girls.
I opened this piece talking about how much I hate it when people use kids to bring awareness to their cause. Immediately after this story was posted, people began talking about this little girl. From basements scattered all across Canada came these snickering, sniveling, rag-tag groups of sycophantic fuckfaces, all chiming in to give their high school diploma-having assess a moment in the death of a child they never met. Then they had the testicular hysteria to accuse the little girl’s family of politicizing their own daughter. I won’t post these comments, link you to comments, or screenshot their comments. But you and I know I’m telling you the truth. Like me, you’ve seen comments like these for 2 fucking years.
My daughter is the same age as that little girl. My daughter will also not be vaccinated for probably 3 more years, even if the vaccine is widely approved after successful trials. She is way too small to guarantee her safety, and so she is exempt from taking it until she weighs enough to be considered safe. This means she is more vulnerable. This means she is depending on me, even more, to keep her safe. This also means you can go fuck yourself if you start rattling off percentages to me.

Would you play one round of Russian Roulette if there were 150 chambers and you could walk away with a billion dollars? Yeah, me too. Would you play the same game of Russian Roulette if the gun was pointed at your little girl’s head? Fuck no. If you ever consider it for a moment you are a piece of shit and should stop reading this editorial and blow your head off immediately.
What are you doing? Just roll the dice and get vaccinated. You’re not gonna die. You’ve been grifted. Like a tourist in Times Square in 1983, you fell for the 3 Card Monty, because evidence of a vast conspiracy is not under any of those shells, you twit. So put your rat tail between your legs, keep it a secret, and get yourself vaccinated so you will no longer be part of the problem.
And leave grieving parents out of your political conquests. Every COVID death is a story, otherwise, we’ve lost our souls to go along with our humanity.
