It’s hard to be a freedom-loving, yet practical and socially responsible Canadian sometimes. Watching one of the most democratically liberal nations in the world take a drastic stance on protecting its majority by considering controversial legislation to curb unvaccinated people from trying to go about their business like they aren’t a vector of disease is frightening, yet understandable.
France is having a pretty hard time rolling out a MANDATORY vaccine passport program (or, what rational adults call an immunization record) where, if you want to do stuff, you are going to provide it when asked. If you want to eat at a restaurant, go to a café, take in a live show or enjoy just about every other public interaction imaginable, you’ll be whipping out your vax card. What happens if you get caught messing with the system as a citizen or a business owner? They’re tabling 6 months in the clink and a whack of dough if convicted. Tabarnak de câlice!
It doesn’t look like it’s going over very well for them though…

Split Society Concerns
“Won’t this cause a split society?” Yeah, it sure will. We wouldn’t be talking here if the “freedom fighters” would stop yelling like petulant children, roll up their sleeves and realize people smarter than them, many non-partisan, across the globe have given us a real, tangible ticket to help us out of this mess. The Facebook PhD minority keeps on steering the narrative though via politicians who realized they could gain clout by echoing the idiocy, thereby dragging out our already pretty impressive progress.
We can’t even ensure those caring for the most vulnerable in our society are vaccinated. Hard no from Egg Sandwich Enthusiast and Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford. We are left to rely on tireless, ass-kicking advocates, like Dr. Vivian Stamatopoulos to “name and shame” these places into doing the right thing. While people like Dr. Stamatopoulos do a better job, IT’S NOT THEIR JOB. It doesn’t surprise me in the least, when we had to rely on grassroot, hero-filled orgs like Vax Hunters Canada to do the job we pay our government handsomely to already do.
THIS is the result of public pressure & transparency.
When I first tweeted about this #LTCH on on July 1, full staff vaccination was at a paltry 52% (which is why I raised the 🚨 ).

Just look at what is happening in Jolly Old! We can now watch this experiment in real-time. If recent history repeats itself as it often does, we probably wont take notes or learn anything. At least we can see the preview of what happens when pandering politicians with weak-ass poll numbers and deadly variants of a virus mix.

So, what do we do now that we are pretty much in the home stretch for vaccines here in Canada?
One of the side effects of France’s intention was the same day they announced they were instituting this mandatory policy, vaccine bookings skyrocketed. 20,000 new bookings per hour on average. Seeing as no politician in this province has the balls to even float that idea, and as pro-vaccine as I am, even I have a bit of a rough time with this one. I haven’t ever had to provide my MMR record to get a beer in a pub. Are we in a position to skip this drastic measure and try something a little more progressive? I’m no expert, but I think so.
Maybe it is time for the “Idiot Lottery.” Or, shelling out some more money to get these holdouts on board. Yes. It’s exactly what it sounds like. An ugly, goddamned ransom payment. Not all will participate because YouTube and Facebook memes dictate their thought process, (but we’re the sheep) but it’ll knock down the unvaccinated numbers and keep us on track to hopefully steering clear of a 4th (fuuuuck) wave of this garbage.
We are currently sitting pretty with 80% of our eligible population having at least one dose. We’re hovering just over 61% of Canadians with both shots. Why not double down and get the easy sellouts on board?

I don’t like it either but what else is left? Our PM is about to squirt WD-40 on the border gate locks. I’m not saying we shouldn’t, but are we as ready as we can be for that scenario? We cannot strap the scientifically challenged down and inoculate them. Maybe one day, when science comes up with a vaccine for willful ignorance we can revisit blow-darts or something, but not for this one. This is, thankfully after all a free and democratic society. The freedom to cosplay the likes of Alex Jones and Chris Sky exists, so just offer to pay them off. They are after all, a bunch of freeloading grifters who like to benefit from others. Let’s just give them a few bucks after they get their second dose and get on with life already. It isn’t the virus holding us back anymore. It’s the virus enthusiasts who must, deep down, want to drag this nightmare out longer.
Maybe we can cut out funding charlatan groups like antihate.ca and use that money to ACTUALLY protect Canadian citizens from something. Yeah. Read about that here. Yikes!

Or, maybe we can put them on a bus draped in PPC flags and send them to where their stupidity and is embraced. Next stop, Maxime’s house! Can that suspender-clad-chain-smoker from Perth drive a bus?
