Jeff Pearce (Moist) and Todd Kerns (Slash/Toque/Age of Electric) stopped by the Kids on The Escalator Podcast this week to talk about their new albums, touring, what’s next for both, and even a little Boba Fett!
The toughest thing for artists right now is putting music out and not being able to tour behind it. Twice now, Jeff and his bandmates in Moist have had tours canceled (due to capacity restrictions) but persevered and created one of their strongest albums to date!
With the release of “End of the Ocean,” we see a return to the Moist of old (Creature) with a noisy, rocking album that doesn’t hold back. Given they had the album almost completed when the pandemic hit, it’s been a long journey to release day and we as rock fans will be notably impressed. Stand-out tracks like “Ammunition”, “Tip of my Tounge”, “The Millions” lead the way along with their first single “Tarantino (Bullet Kill Sex Love Thrill). A solid effort by one of Canada’s best rock bands in the land!
Equally keeping the rock alive, Todd and his bandmates (Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators) are preparing for the release of their 4th full-length album together! On “4” the fellas recorded the whole album almost completely live off the floor and have succeeded in capturing what this band is all about live! Lead single “The River is Rising” comes screaming out of the gate with the traditional “Slash” guitar tone and feel we’ve come to love.
With a North American tour just around the corner and their reputation of playing every song off their new albums, fans are in for a face-melting live experience by one of the best live bands in the land! Don’t believe me? How rad is the new single “Call off the dogs” going to be live to a bunch of people cooped up in their house the last two years?
Rock is very much alive. It’s being led by two icons’ from the Canadian Music Industry and you should be very proud of that! “Oh Canada” indeed!
