First, a message from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who is sick of your lack of social distancing.
Bring in the Candian Army! Let’s do this, kid! We are at a point in Canada where we are pushing the spread of COVID-19 in the opposite direction. LISTEN TO THE TRUDEAUSKI!
I’m a chart/graph/stats freak. I always have been. When this pandemic started I raced to find the best independent, third-party portals to help me understand everything from death to recovery ratios to infection and mortality rates.
In Canada, despite the morons we’ve seen gathering at the beach or playing street hockey in large groups, we are STARTING to flatten the curve. STARTING is the keyword and doesn’t mean shit if we don’t stay inside and Justin Trudeau isn’t putting up with your shit anymore.
Canada has tested 98,000 people with 1438 infected and 21 deaths and as you’ll see, we are heading in the right direction.
This is when we start to see light at the end of the #COVID-19 tunnel. We’re not seeing a massive recovery rate but having 1 person of close to 1500 is in critical condition. That doesn’t mean the infection and death rate won’t rise but it’s trending in the right direction because the Majority of Canadians are doing the right thing. Staying the fuck home.
New daily deaths are way down. This is a terrific new trend that means A) our health care heroes are fighting this virus and winning and B) you are all listening. According to the CDC, for every day we all shelter in place, we reduce the pandemic’s life span by a week shortening our self-isolation in the process.
The number of infected people in Canada saw it’s first significant change yesterday and that’s the single greatest indicator we are on the right track in the Great White North. The fewer infections the slower the spread. The slower the spread, the faster we flatten the curve and that’s a direct result of SOCIAL DISTANCING. If we factor 98,000 Canadians who’ve been tested with the number of active cases, our current infection rate is 1.4%…it’s on the decline. STAY AWAY FROM EACH OTHER. Social distancing works and these are tangible examples of that.
On the other hand, America is in VERY, VERY, VERY, deep shit. Like, the deepest.

Not only does their infection map look like a weightlifter’s asshole, but they also have a 30% infection rate compared to Canada’s 1.4%
The US has tested 110,000 people. 36,000 have tested positive and the CDC says April and May will see the heaviest infection rates/deaths.
New cases and infections are doubling daily. Think Italy, but 5X worse. At this rate, over 120 million people will contract the virus in the United States. 120. Million. If their mortality rate doesn’t change, the losses are almost unimaginable.
America’s linear scale line of total cases is almost vertical, compared to Canada…
…and new cases vs recoveries suggests despite Donald Trump’s daily affirmations that he’s got this covered, he’s surprisingly full of shit. The United States has NO test kits, no ICU beds, no protective medical equipment, and no plan other than the economy and enriching friends of the administration. America is now the global leader in both categories per capita by a country mile with the worst on the horizon.
Canada, keep staying home. We’re starting to turn a corner in a big bad way. Quarantining yourself is the only way to get ahead of this. The longer we keep this up the sooner we get to experience our NEW normal.
If you care, pass these numbers on. Don’t stay away from the reality of the pandemic. Information is power and freedom from anxiety only comes with being informed.
Hang in there. We got this.
Too bad America can’t shoot Viruses.
They’d have this thing licked.
