Wait – he looks like he expected this? So I assume he’s purposely breaking a COVID health ordinance to get himself arrested in order to look like some sort of martyr?

That’s right, Mr Armstrong. You nailed it.
Mad Max purposely went to Manitoba knowing he’d be arrested if he spoke at an anti-mask rally.
He engineered this and it absolutely worked.

Manitoba is enforcing strict COVID measurements after leading the world in infections per 100,000 (13).
Their ICU units have been slammed and their rural hospitals are being overrun with new infections so they’re enforcing the law. Shocker.
Max went to Manitoba to get arrested. Max wants this video to go viral. The PPC knew a video of their leader getting arrested by the RCMP would be crack cocaine to his base.
And he’s 100% right.
Don’t think for a second Bernier’s arrest won’t canonize him to the alt-right. They fucking HATE authority and have made it their mission to marginalize law and law enforcement with these constant rallies so a video of their fearless leader sacrificing himself for the greater good goes a LONG way.
People who identify as libertarian love Max Bernier. He reps their batshit crazy perspective and in turn, his supporters feel like they have a man fighting for them where it matters.
I don’t subscribe to his platform or policy. I happen to think Max’s MO is to make Canada whiter. I think he and his supporters take colonial ownership of this country and it pisses them off when they see immigrants who are more successful than them. PPC supporters feel like this country belongs to them because they’ve been here longer and they also think they’re part of some kind of white VIP club where the greater good doesn’t matter.
Bernier’s arrest was calculated and as much as we might shake our heads, today was a fucking major victory for those who share Maxime’s victim mentality.
In a recent poll, 6% of eligible voters would vote for Bernier. 6.
That means a couple of million Canadians are probably doubling down on their support for Bernier and his policies after that stunt.
