He really went there.
After days of killing civilians in a war that is not exactly going the way Russian president Vladimir Putin thought it would go, Putin has put his nuclear deterrent forces on high alert, saying the West was to blame for making “aggressive statements.” Putin is aggressively killing civilians after invading a sovereign nation, but apparently aggressive statements is a bridge too far.
If Putin is serious, he will be the first domino in the destruction of Europe. If he is bluffing, he probably knows the writing is already on the wall.

Riho Terras, a member of the European Parliament and former Defence Minister of Estonia, offered a plausible explanation for this escalation of rhetoric – Putin underestimated the resolve of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Ukrainian people who have taken up arms against the Russian invaders. Terras also says that Putin thought the war would be over in less than a week, and that he does not have the resources, weaponry, and contingencies to last much longer.

This is when tyrants become desperate, and hypocritical.
Putin is rarely seen in a state of weakness, but offered the following when he attempted to explain the high alert.
“Western countries aren’t only taking unfriendly actions against our country in the economic sphere, but top officials from leading NATO members made aggressive statements regarding our country,” a desperate Putin said.
Imagine being a tyrant. You just invaded a neighbouring country. You are in the middle of said invasion, which is killing men, women, and children, and you release a statement that essentially says “People are being mean to me. They are saying mean things, and they won’t share their toys with me.”
Putin is weak. The whole world sees his weakness. The only question is will this end with a weak man crawling back to his mansion, or will the weak man become enraged and do something to the world he can’t take back?
