Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away after battling cancer off and on for decades.
She’d been fighting cancer since 1999 and if she wasn’t in surgery or sleeping, she worked even up till last week. Over the past two years, she’s battled a surprise bout of lung cancer before pancreatic cancer returned recently. She died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family today.
She became a Federal Judge in 1980 and a Supreme Court Justice in 1993 and she was a fucking GIANT.
Justice Ginsburg consistently vowed in favor of a women’s right to choose, gender equality, and LGBTQ/Racial equality tirelessly crusading for a fairer America enacting her power as a Supreme Court Justice to make it all law.
Before Justice Ginsburg died she dictated a note to her grandaughter telling America to not allow Donald Trump to pick her replacement. That’s how much of an icon she was. She spent her last minutes telling Trump he was a fucking loser. LEGENDARY.
Days before her death, as her strength waned, Ginsburg dictates: “My most fervent wish is that I I will not be replaced until a new president is installed." https://t.co/lebRoeUnPy
