Feel like filling up your Instagram with pics of you in “Bel-Air”?
As per EW.com –
“Airbnb, in partnership with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, announced on Sunday that for the first time ever, the mansion featured in the sitcom will be open to visitors.
Fans from the Los Angeles area can book one-night stays at the house for only $30 a night, and get access to the luxurious wing occupied by Will Smith’s character on the show.
According to the listing, written from Will’s perspective, guests will enjoy “my bedroom (great for naps), a full bathroom (great for spitting bars in the shower), pool area (great for dips), an outdoor lounge, and the dining room (great for eating obviously).”
…You’ll even be virtually welcomed by DJ Jazzy Jeff and a socially distanced mansion concierge.”
Cool idea, but how long before the general public screws up this publicity stunt? People trying to steal stuff as a memento, someone trying to take pictures in areas they aren’t supposed to be in or, god forbid, this turns into the Fresh Prince of Covid.
Perhaps I think too little of the general public. Perhaps everyone will be respectful and responsible and nothing will go wrong. But let me remind you how North Americans acted when we essentially created a toilet paper panic when there was no shortage. We do not have the best track record of doing the right thing.
This is all to help promote the moment that the Fresh Prince is having right now. It just celebrated 30yrs, there’s going to be a reunion special on HBO and it’s getting a dramatic reinterpretation for NBC with a two-season commitment to start.
So while I love the promotion, I’m just worried that the people who are lucky enough to get the room/mansion for the night are going to treat it like Jazz and not Carlton.
