Straight out of ‘A’ ball the 5 ft 8 in, 265 lb, Tijuana native slashed .315/.418/.500 during a chopped up 3-year minor league career.
Offensively he has excellent plate discipline and he’s an outstanding contact hitter and gotta be honest, I had NO idea who this guy was until I watched the entire nine innings of tonight’s 3-2 win over the Mets. He was fucking incredible. He was solid behind the plate and contributed offensively in his first major league baseball game. That in itself is crazy Alejandro went 1 for 3 with a walk scoring the games first run and as an added bonus, he’s tiny and the bat looks like it’s 8 feet long when he holds it.
Do you know how fucking HARD it would be to go straight from ‘A’ to ‘The Show’? I don’t but Buck Martinez said it’s THE toughest position to transition to in Major League Baseball and Buck Martinez played against Roberto Clemente and rolled a double play with his leg in 10 pieces so I’ll go with what Buck said. Kirk made Robbie Ray look easy to catch which is hard to do.
And man, is he thiccc. Like Kirby Puckett, thiccc. and it’s incredible.
Some guys are sent from the Gods to blow our minds like bumblebee’s ability to get airborne. It shouldn’t be scientifically possible but it is and THAT’S the best part of the start of this young man’s long and impactful Blue Jays (who fucking REALLY needed that W with the Yankee win) career.
