Or ‘Sleighed,” depending on your commitment to Xmas in November.
I wonder how many people “Hate Watched” him host last night’s season opener of SNL. I make a point of not supporting things I don’t like, but Chapelle haters are a different bread. It’s almost like they hang on to his every word for ammo to make their lives a nightmare.

Chappelle’s monologue was 15 minutes of pure brilliance. Reflective philosophy and ironic hypocrisy – it’s what he does best. He went DIRECTLY into the belly of the beast by spending the first ten minutes dealing with Kanye going “Death con three on the Jews,” and it was on from there. Generally, I won’t post long-form appearances, but the first 10 minutes of Dave’s monologue was classic Chappelle with some severe education mixed in “FROM DAVE’S PERSPECTIVE.”

Chapelle deals with shit no one else does while making you think about YOUR perception. It’s called comedy. It’s super fucking unpopular, but I think I remember it from years past.
Again, funny AF and makes sense. Dave pointing out Herschel Walker was “Observebly stupid” and leaning into Trump being an “honest liar” probably triggered every black person in the UNITED STATES. But again, It made sense and was the first time I realized WHY people liked Trump.
White America is just waking up to unfairness – Dave knows it well and relates it to the negative stereotypes he uses because he’s “BEEN ON THAT.” he also brings it back to why he comes at comedy and the world as he does. He experiences marginalization, and government institutions have unfairly treated him and members of the black community.
This is why I love Dave Chappelle.

Before last night, much was made about Trans activists’ issues with Dave, and he smartly steered clear of that last night. But Dave’s Dave, and he LEANS into unpopular cancel culture subjects because he’s immune to it and loves to use judgment and hypocrisy in his comedy.
While the rest of the world STFU about Kanye and Kyrie’s anti-Semitic shit, Dave took up residence in the conversation.
Agree or not, that’s his superpower. To reason and critique with philosophy and humor. Depending on the group you identify with, you have a problem with it, or you don’t because you know what Dave’s doing, or you don’t and take yourself way too fucking seriously.
Discounting Dave’s entire act means you don’t give a fuck about his experience as a man who’s been racially profiled his whole life.
Discounting the experience of someone of a specific race or culture for any reason is racist. That’s what being a racist is, by the way.

I like Dave. I learn from his comedy and learn from the people who hate it.
I think that’s still allowed, right?
