Growing up in a house with a volunteer firefighter was always an adventure. It could be 3 in the morning and if that pager goes off, out the door in a flash my old man would go. Not worrying about the fact he’s getting paid $20 bucks an hour and only concerning himself with the safety of others. A champion of the community, much like Jason Eagan, a 33-year-old gentleman who has down syndrome and a heart of gold to help others. Leave it up to some scum bags to ruin the day….
Source: An Illinois volunteer firefighter with down syndrome says he quit the department because he was bullied. 33-year-old Jason Eagan became a volunteer firefighter in Sandoval in 2016. There was debate when he first applied, but he passed the physical test and completed all the paperwork so the fire department could not refuse him. Eagan’s sister Kristin Sian wrote on her Facebook account Thursday that Eagan quit due to harassment. She says that several firefighters allegedly made fun of Eagan, calling him names and removing him from the emergency paging system. Sian added that her brother quit after several firefighters allegedly called him names and removed him from the emergency paging systems, KTVI reported. According to Sian, the Sandoval fire department is meeting with trustees Tuesday evening. She confirmed the department offered Eagan his job back, the television station reported.
Let’s hope Jason accepts his position back, only after the scummers who have been chirping him are shown the door for workplace harassment. How shitty is your life that you need to make fun of a firefighter with down syndrome to feel better about yourself?
