New Jersey police dash cam video captured the moment a downed power line burst into flames while in the hands of a Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) utility worker on Monday morning.
The worker is seen on video holding the wire and jerking it, succeeding in getting it unstuck from the traffic light which it had landed on wet road and bursts into flames. The worker then drops the wire and leaps back and runs to safety.
Holy Shit. What a close call. I can’t really believe what I am seeing. That power line lit up in a split second. Good thing that the worker had the foresight to let go and run to safety. This video shows how dangerous working in the trades can be.
If there’s one thing you can take away from this video, it’s giving yourself every opportunity to never do this job.
