In James Franco‘s new HBO series “The Deuce,” which follows the rise of the porn industry in New York in the 1970s, the family-favorite soup is used as faux semen during the filming of x-rated action.
Co-creators and executive producers David Simon and George Pelecanos told Page Six at the show’s premiere on Thursday that all the credit for the soon-to-be-infamous soup cameo, which appears in the upcoming second episode, goes to writer Richard Price.
“[Price] knows that they actually threw that kind of soup on people to simulate ejaculation,” Pelecanos said.
Simon added, “In the research, we found out there are a couple desperate remedies when male performers failed to restrain themselves in sex sufficiently.”
When asked if they had to call Campbell’s and explain how they were using the product, Pelecanos joked, “I mean as long as you don’t say Campbell’s soup gives you cancer or something then you’re in good shape. You can throw it in somebody’s face.”
Words to live by….
I Haven’t seen “The Deuce” but after reading that last line I can’t watch it fast enough. Not because I love porn. I want to watch this to see after they get blasted in the face with a hose of the worlds most disgusting flavor of soup I want to know if they’ll pretend to relish the moment with that shit on their face.
I love Campbell’s soups (Bean & Bacon and Tomato Rice to be exact). I would come home at lunch every day and have soup and crackers. Once there was only cream of potato and I assumed it would be fine with enough crackers and pepper.
It was like a thousand seagulls shit in my mouth at the same time. The texture and the flavor together made me throw up immediately and I can’t walk by it without feeling sick.
Too bad you couldn’t use Tomato Rice but that’s probably a different category of porn.
