Source – A diehard baseball fan in need of a life-saving kidney transplant got the surprise of his life last week when he opened a new pack of Topps player cards. In a YouTube video shared on Twitter, Steve Winfree, of Knoxville, excitedly reveals Noah Syndergaard, Mike Trout and Clint Frazier cards before reaching one of featuring a photo of himself.
“What the heck?” Winfree said, before his wife, Heather, asked what it was.
“It looks like a baseball card,” he said, before flipping it over to read the explainer.
“Steve’s had a lot on his plate. With his health issues he has been striking out a lot,” he read from the card. “He was not sure how he was going to wind up. His wife Heather thinks he is a great catch, so she’s decided to go to bat for him. Now Steve will be a rookie recipient at Vanderbilt Transplant Center…”
Both Winfree, who was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease 14 years ago, and Heather are overcome with emotion as she informs him that she was found to be a match for donation, and that the surgery could take place by the end of July.

I saw this on twitter the other night, and in my advancing years, I’ve turned into a huge pussy so I didn’t think I could watch it. I did, and predictably I cried. Life doesn’t give you many moments especially when you’re older that you can appreciate and this was one of them for me.
The look on his face and the honesty of his reaction will warm even the coldest heart.
Last week my girlfriend asked if I would mind NOT going to my Favorite steak house for dinner on date nite. Instead, she asked if would I take her to a new sushi joint new because she was sick of going to “Peters”.
I told her the place she wanted to go was shit and heard the food was shit and I’d heard it from at least four different people.
This chick gave her husband a Kidney, and he didn’t ask.
My girl wanted to go for sushi; I said no.
If I found out I was a match for anyone on this planet except for my kids I’m 84% sure I wouldn’t even entertain the thought.
Maybe that’s why I loved this moment. It touches the blackest of hearts and makes me think about how much work I have to do to not be such a selfish dick. That and all my family members better hope they dont need a kidney.
