I’m sure the septuagenarian Walmart greeter probably didn’t have getting shit kicked over a surgical mask in his mind’s eye when he was day dreaming about retirement ten years ago. Jesus.
CBC: A 30-year-old man has been arrested for assault and mischief after allegedly assaulting an employee at a Walmart in Dawson Creek, B.C.
RCMP were called to the store at around 8 p.m. PT Wednesday after reports of a customer assaulting an employee who asked him to wear a face mask — which is both store policy and a provincial health order.
After reviewing surveillance footage, RCMP identified the suspect and arrested him at his home.
He has since been released and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
“The involved victim received minor injuries not requiring immediate medical attention,” said RCMP Sgt. Damon Werrell.
“Individuals who refuse to wear a mask, exhibit abusive or belligerent behaviour, or fail to comply with patron conditions or requirements may be fined up to an amount of $230.”
The mandate that face coverings are now mandatory in all retail spaces in the province was announced by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry last Thursday.
The Walmart greeter in question is 71. This tough guy perp is 31 so it’s already unfair and thy way he demeaned the old bastard by sitting on him like that makes me sad. Sad that I don’t live in Dawson Creek, BC so I could gather a few of my more questionable friends and pop over for coffee for 20 very painful, embarrassing, minutes.
I had a conversation with a friend of mine yesterday who may or may not have done time. That friend IS the only person on this planet who scares me. We talked about kindness for kindness sake and how wearing a mask, while inconvenient, is just a neighbourly thing to do. That friend would tear this guys arms off and (with a straight face and without uttering a word) would pull this guy’s asshole out through his mouth for hurting the old fella like this.
Here’s a quick little piece of advice if you get triggered when a retail store greeter asks you to put on a mask; Just do it or leave. Stores have a right to demand your wearing a mask while you shop in their store and have the right to tell you to fuck off. It might feel good to take that mental illness out on a some poor Walmart greeter but think first. Those criminal charges can be pesky for a lifetime.
