Has the increase in minimum wage affected the way you tip when you go out? #TheLOCKERROOM

Alberta has been bumping up the minimum wage over the last few years. We could spend all day and most of the next one debating the pros and cons. One of the many unintended consequences is the increase in your bill at the end of the meal. I probably go out more than I should, and I’m noticing it. I’ll be honest…I’m tipping less. We talked about it on the show today, and I am NOT alone.
Why is it OK for restaurants and bars to increase everything on the menu and it’s NOT OK for me to decrease my tip?
I used to tip at least 15% – sometimes 20%. I’ve been working my way down to 10% lately, and I don’t feel very guilty about it.
I’m also planning on going full political with a speech about why I’m tipping 10% at the end of all my trips out…I’ll let you know how that goes.
