The Cleveland Browns have two quarterbacks, Deshaun Watson and Baker Mayfield. The Browns seem confused what Mayfield’s trade value is, and if they don’t start to figure it out, Cleveland may need to let him walk away for nothing. To make things worse, during the messy breakup between the Browns and Odell Beckham Jr, while the Cleveland media were trying to paint Mayfield as the victim, his teammates may have seen things differently.
The Washington Commanders have one of the best running backs in the NFL, and yet head coach Ron Rivera wants him to play in a platoon with rookie running back Brian Robinson. Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill says that it’s not his job to mentor rookie quarterback Malik Willis. Clearly Tannehill is insecure with his position on the Titans. Predicting future picks in the NFL is almost impossible, but with the offseason basically finished, what AFC and NFC playoff teams from 2021 won’t be in the postseason in 2022?
Here’s is all the chatter happening around the NFL right now.
RON RIVERA IS FORCING ONE OF THE BEST RUNNING BACKS INTO A PLATOON ROLE

The Washington Commanders still have the worst name in sports, but they have one of the best running backs in the NFL. Antonio Gibson is the RB1 on almost any team, but his head coach is Ron Rivera. Washington drafted Alabama running back Brian Robinson and he’s a good back, but I don’t understand why Gibson wouldn’t be the Commanders featured back. Unless Robinson shows up to camp and pushes Gibson for the job, I just can’t get behind this. Gibson is too good to be a platoon player.
RYAN TANNEHILL IS INSECURE IN HIS ROLE AS TITANS QB
It’s not in @ryantannehill1 ‘s job description to mentor @malikwillis But as the Quarterback of the team, it is YOUR JOB to lead everybody. Saying you won’t help a young player adds unneeded tension to the locker room. Help the next guy and let your play decide who the future is. pic.twitter.com/lOy7ek7HRs

The only reason Ryan Tannehill wouldn’t mentor Malik Willis is because he feels threatened. It’s not any more complicated than that. RG3 makes such a great point, if Tannehill believes he is the starting quarterback, then it’s his responsibility to elevate everybody around him, and that includes his backup quarterback. Clearly Tannehill is insecure, he knows that his job is in jeopardy. Back in 2001 Drew Bledsoe’s life was actually in danger after he took a hit from Moe Lewis. Tom Brady took the field, and Bledsoe never got his job back, despite the New England Patriots just making him the richest player in NFL history. Bledsoe still continued to mentor Brady. Tannehill, who is still the starting quarterback of the Tennessee Titans, is so insecure in his abilities to play quarterback, he’s refusing to mentor his rookie.
WHAT WILL THE 2022 NFL PLAYOFF PICTURE LOOK LIKE?
which 2021 playoff teams miss them this yr?
AFC seeds from 2021:
NFC seeds from 2021:
— Warren Sharp (@SharpFootball) May 4, 2022
Let’s start with the AFC. I don’t think the Titans will finish as the top seed, but they will make the playoffs. The Chiefs aren’t as good without Tyreek Hill, but they’ll probably win the AFC West. The Bills, Bengals, and Raiders, all got better. But a lot of teams got better, including the Patriots and the Steelers. Unfortunately I don’t think they got better enough, I don’t think the Steelers or the Patriots will return to the postseason. The NFC is a little more complicated, teams like the Lions and the Saints got better, but it’s not like last years’ playoff teams got worse. If I was going to take my best guess, I’m going to say the Arizona Cardinals won’t make the playoffs this year. DeAndre Hopkin is out for six weeks, and I just don’t trust Kyler Murray.
BROWNS ASKING PRICE FOR BAKER MAYFIELD IS WAY TOO HIGH
I spoke to a source from a team that expressed interest in Baker Mayfield, had talks, but they cooled not wanting to pay asking price feeling he has to be cut. Their follow-up comment tonight: “no one’s trying to do the #Browns any favors in this situation.” #ThisIsRidiculous

I’ve believed that the Browns asking price for Baker Mayfield has been the reason that no trade happened during the Draft. We heard a lot of rumours that the Carolina Panthers were trying to trade for Mayfield, then they traded into the third-round and took a quarterback. The moment Cleveland traded for Deshaun Watson, Mayfield’s value plummeted. Cleveland is going to have to do one of two things, either release Mayfield or lower the trade value, but as the tweet says, nobody is going to do the Browns any favours. Baker Mayfield was not good enough last season to draw the type of interest Cleveland is expecting.
ANONYMOUS BROWNS PLAYER THROWS SHADE AT BAKER MAYFIELD
Wow, one of Baker Mayfield’s teammates
— JPA Football (@jpafootball) May 5, 2022
This damning regardless of who said it. The Cleveland media clearly tried to paint Odell Beckham Jr as the problem in Cleveland, but Baker Mayfields performance throughout the season, and the fact that the Browns elected to trade for Deshaun Watson, perhaps the Cleveland media villainized the wrong player. Mayfield is in a very interesting point of his career, he’s largely being seen as a draft bust, and he’s obviously not being highly coveted around the NFL. If Baker Mayfield gets an opportunity to play this season he needs to make the best of it, or he may find himself fighting for a backup role, or be out of the league altogether.
