The Buffalo Bills are one win away from going three consecutive seasons with ten wins or more. The New England Patriots have given safety Adrian Phillips a three year contract extension worth up north of $14 million. With two games remaining Aaron Rodgers has the opportunity to extend his already impossible record.
With A Win Over The Falcons The Bills Will 10 Plus Games For Their Third Consecutive Season
It wasn’t that long ago that the Buffalo Bills were the doormat of the AFC. For over twenty years the Bills dwindled near the bottom of the standings, and they didn’t give the Bills Mafia much hope. Fast forward to the 2021 season. If the Bills are able to score a victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Buffalo will win ten plus games for their third consecutive season.
After a string of failed coaches and quarterbacks, Sean McDermott and Josh Allen have been the answers Buffalo was looking for. General Manager Brandon Beane has done a good job building a strong unit, and because of this Buffalo is back on top of the AFC East, and should be considered legitimate contenders to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
The Patriots Gave Safety Adrian Phillips A Three Year Contract Extension
New England Patriots fans had a great start to 2022. News broke Saturday morning that Adrian Phillips had agreed to a three year contract extension that could be worth north of $14 million.
Phillips signed with the Patriots last offseason, and he joined what was Bill Belichick’s weakest roster since the 2000 season. While with the then San Diego Chargers, Phillips was solid, but he did not perform like he has with New England. COVID-19 actually opened up opportunities for Phillips after some key members of the Patriots defense opted out for the season.
Belichick has used Phillips as a Swiss Army Knife type of player. We have seen Phillips lineup as free safety, in the box, as a strong safety, and as an inside linebacker. It would be fair to say that Phillips has filled in for the hole that Patrick Chung left with his opt out and the retirement. Some believe that Phillips would have made more money exploring free agency after this season, clearly Phillips is enjoying his time in New England.
Aaron Rodgers is Accomplishing The Impossible
The Green Bay Packers have two games remaining, and that means quarterback Aaron Rodgers has the Chance to add to his already impossible record. Rodgers is on pace to attempt 450 passes or more with five interceptions or less for his fourth consecutive season. No other quarterback in NFL history has accomplished the task twice, let alone four straight seasons. Off the field Rodgers has ruffled some feathers. During the offseason he leaked stories to the press around tensions between him and the Packers organization. He spent his off time hosting Jeopardy, hanging out on the Pat McAfee show, and avoiding calls from Packers GM Brian Gutekunst.
Rodgers also caused a media stir after he tested positive for COVID-19, and it was revealed that he had lied to the media about being vaccinated. He has also made headlines after he publicly talked about treating his infection from medical advice he received from Joe Rogan. Despite everything Rodgers does to make you not like him, you have to respect what he’s done on the football field.
