Via Telegraph “Cameron Smith, the Open champion, has signed a $100 million-plus deal to join LIV Golf in a major coup for the Saudi-backed rebel series. Telegraph Sport understands the Australian – who declined to comment on a potential deal immediately after his dramatic win at St Andrews – will now play at LIV’s upcoming event in Boston.”
Ooooof. Can’t say I didn’t tell you this was going to happen. I was only $10 million off.
This is a BLOODY BIG DEAL. We’re talking about the No. 2 ranked golfer on the planet here. This is insane. The Saudi blood money doesn’t seem to be stopping anyone anymore.
The PGA Tour has to officially hit the panic button. The world #2 golfer just jumped ship for the LIV Tour. There is no more they have players past their prime argument, there is no more they are only going to be around for a short period of time. LIV is here to stay. If I am the PGA Tour brass I find a way to work with the LIV Tour ASAP.
Smith will still be able to tee it up in majors barring any new rule changes. Greg Norman is the happiest man on the planet right now.
A federal judge has decided that three players who joined the Saudi-backed LIV golf league can't compete in the PGA Tour's postseason. The players had argued they should be able to play where they want to, regardless of the PGA's rules. https://t.co/y5h3oZdivG

Minutes after I published this post a federal judge decided that three players who joined the Saudi-backed LIV golf league can’t compete in the PGA Tour’s postseason. ( The FedEx Cup) The players had argued they should be able to play where they want to, regardless of the PGA’s rules.
Cameron Smith has now walked back the rumours he has joined LIV and said he is here to focus on winning the FedEx Cup.
