There are bad days then there’s an Ed Werder bad day.
ESPN recently announced in a cold-blooded way that they were going to cut about 100 jobs and unfortunately Ed Werder was one of them.
At 8:58am, Ed tweeted that his beloved dog Austin was a little better but the end was very close.
At 10:32am, he tweeted that he was fired and his time at ESPN was over after 17 years and he had no plans to retire.
Super sad 34 minutes for a guy I genuinely enjoyed watching cover football. The human part of life on display from Ed. Media blows right now and goes to show that the whole “There’s never a good time to lose your job” is bullshit. This seems like a really bad time.
I remember my worst day ever. In a 24-hour period I told my ex wife I was moving out and wanted a divorce, buried one of my best friends in Nashville, and returned home to find out my ex killed my dog with my boat. Tough stuff, and it feels like there’s no end in site to swimming in the pool of heavy shit that can sometimes be life.
Hope that Ed gets some big wins from this and a new puppy. Everyone feels better after getting a new puppy.
