Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee. The PGA has a new first-time winner and it’s Canadian, Corey Conners. Conners had to win a 6 for 1 playoff on Monday to qualify for the tournament and the rest is history. He becomes the 15th Canadian to ever win on the PGA tour.

The 27-year-old professional, born in Listowel, Ontario started out like a house on fire Sunday, firing off 4 straight birdies. He then finished off his front nine with four straight bogeys, but it didn’t matter, the back nine was a whole different story. The Canuck was lights out, piping everything down the middle of the fairway, hitting greens with ease, and he was rolling in everything. He went on to make 6 birdies on the back nine alone, one putting 7 of 9 holes. The kid was unconscious.
Conners led the week in greens in regulation, he also led the week in reactions from his gallery.
This is gold. Who needs a movie idea?

Conners now heads back to Augusta where he will play in the Masters for the second time. The first time around he was an amateur and actually ended up playing his first two rounds with fellow Canadian, Mike Weir. We all know Weir took the tourney down, in 2003, 16 years later, let’s see if Conners can show well and contend.
This weekend in Texas, it was shots like these that gave the Canuck all the momentum he needed. Good luck at Augusta, CC!
