Shapiro made a public declaration yesterday too. He’s chasing guys like Bauer, George Springer, Realmuto, and Francisco Lindor who is fucking ELITE. The Jays control the majority of their core for a few more years and Shapiro is hunting big fish to jack open a 5-year window of meaningful playoff baseball.
If the Blue Jays sign half of the players they’re rumored to be in on, Vlad turns the corner with his diet, Biggio and Bichette continue to evolve and Nate Pearson takes a step this year, look the fuck out.
Six years is a long time for a rebuild and I’ve been unduly harsh on Shapiro/Atkins. They were tight-lipped about the rebuild which pissed me off, but we’re here and ownership is committed to some MAJOR upgrades by spending money in a pandemic with ZERO gate revenue. That’s a big statement by Rogers so chill out, provided this doesn’t turn into the 2015 off-season and we’re left holding the bag.
