The NBA slam dunk contest has been hit or miss over the years. From the Birdman and his 42 attempts to the recent high flying acts of Aaron Gordon or Donovan Mitchell, we never really know what’s in store. The NBA decided it would have the best chance for a big night with the following participants:
• Miles Bridges, Hornets
• John Collins, Hawks
• Hamidou Diallo, Thunder
• Dennis Smith Jr., Knicks
They forgot one guy who would have brought the house down in North Carolina…..his name is Vince Carter. Sure, convincing the oldest man in the league to jump around for an hour would be a tough task, or the fact he was perfect in his only appearance and probably wants to leave it that way, but still, if the NBA wanted to make the 2019 dunk contest the best ever, Vince Carter should have at least been given one dunk. Remember this?
With Dywane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki getting their send-offs during all-star weekend and taking part in the action, the NBA missed the boat not having Vince take part. However, all things considered, the 2019 contest wasn’t half bad. It was just wasn’t half man – half amazing.
