It’s generally rendered useless to review the opening night of any type of entertainment show, the process is not linear and the show will change for the better as the season roll on, but for Peyton Manning and Eli Mannings television debuts I thought it was a smashing success and comedy gold. MOVE OVER Monday Night Football booth team, Peyton and Eli are coming for your gig. If you missed it here are some of the best highlights.

Peyton on Ciara’s Met Gala look
It had everything, it was witty, fresh, new and the timing was on point. To add to the broadcast they had a laundry list of pro bowler football players join them from the comfort of their own home. Ray Lewis during the middle of the game, Charles Barkley for pre game and Russel Wilson for the final drive. This right here is what digital media is all about, taking chances and having a much more relaxed approach to broadcasting vs the traditional sense of tight asses in suits talking shop.
I’ve always envisioned this model for our Footy Prime boys. Those lads are hilarious & raw in their podcast, they clean it up for their big gig on DAZN but their true personalities are raw and unfiltered. Imagine being able to watch a Liverpool game with Sharman 10 beers and 3 meat pies deep following a crushing loss. It would be gold. Or seeing Dunlops live reaction to Ronaldo scoring 2 goals in his Manchester United opener? We’ll see if we can back up the Brinks truck for them and ask them to do a few games.
Overall I give a hearty well done to ESPN, this is going to be a hit and I wouldn’t be surprised if Peyton and Eli are in the booth in the coming years, I just hope they bring the same energy.
