No, you’re not having an acid flashback. The Carolina Hurricanes donned some pretty dapper Hartford Whalers throwbacks during their 2-0 victory over the visiting L.A. Kings on Saturday night. The first star of the game was a familiar face, as former Leafs goaltender James Reimer was between the pipes recording his 3rd shutout of the season (and 24th of his career) behind a 41-save effort.
The ex-Leaf looked fantastic last night, stoning the Kings point-blank on multiple occasions. An empty-netter with just seconds remaining made it a 2-0 final, but Reimer spent most of the game with a razor-thin one-goal lead. I’m sure many Leafs fans still have a soft spot for James, and it was nice to see him get a really well-deserved win last night.
Especially in those jerseys…because those are dope as fuck.
