To win it all, everything has to go right and then some.
The Montreal Canadians beat the Vegas Golden Knights to take a 2-1 lead in a series they have no business being in. After sweeping a series they weren’t supposed to win. After coming back from a 3-1 series deficit to the Leafs.
There are two major factors for the Canadians 2021 post season success:
- Carey Price
Price is 10-4 with a .932 save percentage. He’s on the best run we’ve seen in over a decade and he’s 100% in the heads of the Golden Knights. He’s still the best goalie on the planet and for those of you complaining about the Canadians only being here thanks to their highest paid player, that’s the idea.
Then there’s pure luck.

Scheifele getting himself suspended for the entire series…
No reason for Scheifele to throw this hit like that on Evans. Absolute Trash

The Tavares hit and subsequent injury putting him out for the series…

Muzzin was out of the series due to injury a game later.
EVERYTHING has gone right for MTL this postseason. Caufeild and Kotkaniemi have been sensational. Jeff Petry and Shea Weber have been horses and the Canadiens have been on the receiving end of the luckiest bounces in playoff history. I’m not mad about it. It’s fucking crazy to watch their luck continue to improve as the playoffs progress and last night was just another example of it.
