Well the Super Bowl 56 Halftime Show lived up to the hype, in every sense of the word and if you tell me different you don’t understand music and culture. Period. Stop.
What was easily one of the most anticipated performances in history delivered.
The show began with an insane shot of Dr. Dre rising from the bottom of the stage in a fully white, glass mixing board looking up at what transformed into the SoFi Stadium crowd.

Dre then threw it over to Snoop Dogg rocking his Rams-coloured uniform, which was hilarious because the NFL told all the performers to be in the neutral colours, I guess Snoop missed the memo or said go fuck yourself. Snoop nailed his entire opening verse from “Next Episode” without swearing once which is a feat on its own.
Snoop handed it back to Dre who segued from “Next Episode” into his first verse from “California Love” and the party got turned up to a 150.

Onto the first surprise of the night! Sean Kingston upside down? Oh no wait, that was a much less cut 50 Cent. As I said in our boy’s group chat, 50 Cent turned into a dollar bill with that thicccccccccccccness.

The Queen, Mary J Blige then appeared, dropping “No More Drama” and the internet decided that was the moment the show seemed to die down. I think it was the only part of the show where I thought this might not be that great.
ENTER KENDRICK LAMAR with a clan marching clones. I’ve seen Kendrick at 2 music festivals so I knew we were in for a treat.

The show then flipped to “Forgot About Dre” with the hook sung by a hidden Eminem. Eminem appeared, rising from behind a building, as the guitar from “Lose Yourself” kicked in, WHAT A TRACK. As if my dumb ass thought he was going to go with Slim Shady.
Seeing the incredible Anderson Paak on the drums was another amazing edition. He killed it.
Now let’s chat about a bit of controversy. The NFL told them to not be political. Cue Eminem. Eminem was on one knee during the entire time Dr.Dre was on the piano. Something I didn’t think twice about, Twitter to the rescue.

As if the NFL thought they could tell Eminem what do…
Onto the climax. Dr.Dre sat at the piano and did a nice little nod to Tupac’s “I Ain’t Mad At Cha”, which turned into the song everyone was waiting for. Still Dre. The entire group converged on the middle stage and murdered it.

JUST INCREDIBLE.
Full marks to the Doctor for having the idea to approach the NFL with this performance upon hearing LA was hosting the Super Bowl. And p double props to him for coordinating such an awesome set- packing in all of the talents, and all of the songs that he did.
That’s why he’s the Doctor.
I can’t believe these motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre.
